Haunted by Shadows

A ghost story about being haunted by moving forms, shadows, seen out of the corner of Marie's eyes...

by Marie

I have recently had this strange thing going on where I see what I can only describe as black shadows out of the corner of my eyes.

I do get floaters in my eyes, and I know it's not this as they are tiny and only noticeable in bright areas such as the sky. I have to be in a day dream to notice them.

Recently I moved from my old house to this house. At the corner of my eyes I see them, about three months after moving in, I have started seeing these black shadows.

Now they are not BIG and not figures. However, whenever I notice it at the side of my eye, I look and I see them. Swiftly is the word I find appropriate to describe their movement - they move and disappear. They seem to 'vaporize.' Sometimes they can be big and, sometimes, small like they are moving along the floor; but when I go to look, it's gone.

The other day I was in my room in the morning, and it was a beautiful day. I was looking out my window, applying make-up, when I saw this white, shadow vapour swiftly move in front of me. There was no figure. I can only describe it as resembling a sheet but almost see-through. Being so quick it's hard to see.

As I started typing this, I remember at my old house, in winter, I was sitting in the living room with my mam. I was sitting directly opposite the window when we heard this big knock. It was as if something had hit the window.

I was already looking at the window when this occurred, and I saw what appeared to be a hand - it  was a mix of white and a subtle orange. I knew it was not a real, human hand as I live in the countryside, and nobody is around. My mam noticed my face; I must have appeared in shock because she asked me what was wrong. So I asked her if she saw it. She had looked away and missed it, but she did hear it.

Anyone think these weird things could be linked? Or if it is my eyes? Or any suggestions on what this could be? I am a believer in spiritual happenings and call myself 'spiritual"; however I am not ridiculous about things that some people make up clearly.

Snapchat Granny Ghost!

Snapchat photo reveals an elderly woman ghost behind her...then she turned and...

from Anonymous

This happened today.

I was hula hooping in my bedroom with nothing but some Christmas lights on in front of me, and I thought there was a weird mole or something on my neck.

I went onto snapchat to take a photo and snapped a few before I taking the last one with a strange old lady behind me. I remember inspecting my neck, then feeling like I HAD to look at what was behind me; and there she was!

It's hard to explain what she looked like; it was creepy, for sure. She (the granny ghost) had messy gray hair, a severely wrinkled face, and what seemed to be long nails. It was as if she was in a menacing position. I quickily 'x'd out of the photo, deleting it forever, and I jumped onto my bed and under the covers, away from the creepy old lady I had seen.

Is the House Haunted?

Recently, I have been afraid to go up into my room when I'm home alone. Sometimes when I go into it, I smell something foul and get random goosebumps up and down my body.

Last night, around two-thirty, maybe three, something odd happened; I hadn't had anything to induce this reaction, but I suddenly, very suddenly, experienced hot and cold flashes especially in my head. (I also had the) shivers. My entire body was shaking so much I could barely stand, and I could practically feel my heartbeat without even touching my chest - it was that rapid. I passed it off as some weird anxiety attack, but nothing had made me have one. I was simply lying in bed with the lights off, again, with nothing but the fairy lights on while listening to Fall Out Boy.

Haunted House in Hawaii

from Jen

189 years ago a house was made as the primary residence of a pig farm. The land the home stood upon was a large property that would later be sold and parceled out for others to build new homes. No one had died there, that we know of, except one little boy. His death happened in the front of the house.

In the 1990s, my parents bought the house to start a family. A baby girl was on the way, (me) and their loft was too small. My parents were able to afford the haunted house -- it's in Oahu. (I live in Hawaii.)

A couple of months after moving in, my family started to fix up the house. Because it had been designated as a historical residence, my parents had to pay around $200 per month for the house. Soon our family would begin to experience strange things.

After a few months of living there, my mother and my brother were upstairs; and as my mom locked the door and played with my little brother, she heard the door shake like something was trying to go upstairs. My mother was barely frightened because she thought it was my dad-- but he was at work.

When I was born I saw a lady: a lady in red; she was red. The lady was dressed in what looked like attire from the 1800s and was staring in a mirror. "Wait," I thought. "We don’t have mirrors in this house!" In the mirror I could see myself and the lady staring at me from the mirror; her eyes were very red but blank. Was it a dream? No. It was too real.

Years later, from time to time, I would see tall, skinny shadows in the daylight, moving quickly across the rooms; but still, that didn’t make us move. Every couple of months, around 4:30 AM, upstairs, we would hear someone or something trying open a door. It was my parents who were awakened by the disturbance. They eventually learned to just ignore it.

Present Day 7/29/14
It was 4 AM, and I was asleep and so was my brother; but my parents were not. A noise came from the door. It was silent. All of a sudden, the sprit was trying to open the door, and it tried hard as it woke up my parents up with the loud clicking noise of the door knob. My dad bravely grabbed a bat and went downstairs to find the robbers (so he thought) -- but there was no one there; nothing taken and nothing left. The ghost came, then went. Silence. Our family still doesn’t know if it’s the little boy who died, but we wonder.

Note from Jen
Dear Reader, this is not a false story; many of you might think so. These events are true and I am not one who would make this up. I (and my family) have experienced the story I just told you. I have not yet moved out of this creepy house but am staying here till the end. This “thing” doesn’t scare me or my family.

Rumpus Room Haunting Ghost Story

A ghost story from Jessica of Melbourne, Australia...

My family has a bit of a history with experiencing the paranormal (both my parents encountered the same ghost in our first family home in Ringwood while I was a baby), but until now, I myself had not experienced anything.

My parents are now separated and my father, whom I live with, has remarried. About 6 months ago we moved into a house whose property had been recently sub-divided to make way for more units on the block behind us.

The owners of the house had also really done up the outside by rendering the walls and adding a large deck - basically, a lot of changes had come over the property just before we moved in.

Everything seemed fine for the first few months, but as Winter really set in, my sisters and I started to notice that our end of the house always seems to be cold. Our bedrooms are located off a large rumpus room.

All three rooms (2 bedrooms and the rumpus room) are continuously cold. Even with the ducted heating on, the temperature does not really seem to change. If you stand right above the duct you can feel the warm heat, but for some reason the heat won't spread throughout these three rooms.

We've had the vents checked numerous times by the heating company and no one can come up with any explanation as to why these rooms don't warm up.

I thought nothing of this until little things started to be moved around. My 16 year old sister and I were the most targeted with small items of jewellery, school supplies and even items of clothing on occasion simply disappearing.

The items would reappear a few days or weeks later, usually in the rumpus room. At first we thought it was our six year old sister playing with our things and without telling us, but when I lost a pair of earrings that were on a shelf much too high for her to reach, I began to wonder whether something else wasn't going on.

For about two months now, sometimes when I'm home alone I get this really eerie feeling and feel on edge, especially in the rumpus room. At first this feeling only came at night, and I put it down to being nervous about someone breaking in or something, but then I started to get this feeling during the day too. It only happens when I'm home alone.

At these times, I avoid going into the rumpus room as much as I can, and if I have to go to my bedroom, I almost run through the rumpus room to it. I also have this thing about keeping my bedroom door closed, or only slightly ajar, because I don't like the vulnerable feeling I get from the rumpus room.

We also sometimes hear crashes and bangs coming from the rumpus room's end of the house, but when we go to see what has fallen over, nothing is out of place. Twice at night my sisters and I have heard a huge crash outside, sounding like glass and wood shattering, but there is never anything there, and our dad and step mum say they haven't heard anything like that, even though the sound is loud enough to wake the dead.

The strangest thing occured to me only this morning. I was in the shower while my baby brother was asleep and my step mum was cooking in the kitchen. I was just turning the water off when I heard a deep male voice, kind of sounding like my dad, say what I thought was 'Jess' but it sounded really muffled. So I answered 'What?' and got no answer. I called for dad again, but got no reply, so I continued getting ready.

Once I was dressed I went out into the kitchen and asked my step mum what my dad wanted when I was in the shower. She gave me a funny look and said that my dad hadn't been home since seven o'clock this morning. I told her about the voice I heard and we both tried to look for other explanations - the neighbours on that side of the house weren't home; there were no radios or TVs going inside or outside of the house at the time. We're at a loss as to why I heard a voice saying my name.

Even though we've lived here six months, we still get mail for people who used to live here. But we seem to be receiving mail for ten or so different names. None of the last names match up with the people who owned the house before we did, but dad seems to think that maybe it was used as a sort of half way house where people just crashed here whenever they felt like it. I wonder whether this is true and whether something happened in the rumpus room, or one of the bedrooms off it; and if this is why my sisters and I are experiencing these weird phenomenon.

Publisher's Note: It is possible that the ghostly activity is taking place because the ghost wants to be acknowledged. Oftentimes, ghosts are looking for confirmation that they are still alive and interactive with the living, maybe even needing to resolve some unfinished business

As these stories unfold, you’ll feel the tension, the fear, and the uncanny sensations that haunted the people involved. Shadowy figures, sudden cold spots, unexplained noises, and the lingering presence of something unseen—these are the moments that define a true haunting. Experience the thrill, the mystery, and the unsettling truth behind these encounters, and get ready for even more chilling stories in the next volume.
