Understanding Darkness, Light & Paranormal Phenomena
A Look at the Paranormal and How It May Relate to Christianity
For more than a millenium, witnesses have been describing ghosts, angels and spirits in various forms, ranging from very dark blackness to purifying bright light. After years of studying paranormal phenomena, we couldn't help but draw comparisons between light and dark anomalies photographed, video recorded or seen by ghost investigators with some of the descriptions of entities, darkness and light, found within the Bible. Could Christianity's Jesus have given us insight into the paranormal?
A Look at the Paranormal and How It May Relate to Christianity
For more than a millenium, witnesses have been describing ghosts, angels and spirits in various forms, ranging from very dark blackness to purifying bright light. After years of studying paranormal phenomena, we couldn't help but draw comparisons between light and dark anomalies photographed, video recorded or seen by ghost investigators with some of the descriptions of entities, darkness and light, found within the Bible. Could Christianity's Jesus have given us insight into the paranormal?
Ghost Investigators and Their Evidence
In ghost hunting, it is common for ghost hunters to capture images of “light” in photos, such as round balls called “orbs,” mists, ectoplasmic vapors and other paranormal phenomena. However, it is also known that some ghost pictures contain images of “darkness.” These “dark” images are sometimes referred to as “shadow people” or “dark shadows.” They are living entities, because these beings in darkness have been recorded moving about, just as entities of light have also been recorded in motion on video tape. What’s even more interesting is the fact that some paranormal investigators have witnessed these shadow people being playful, thus suspecting that they very well could be children in a different form playing in our realm. But how could beings of darkness be children? How could the dark be good when we have been taught in every Hollywood cowboy movie that the guy in black is bad and the guy in white is the hero? Wouldn’t it make sense that the entities of light are good, such as angels might be, and the entities of dark are evil? Maybe, not...read on.

When understanding the spirit realm, we must assume that there is only one spirit (energy) and that all that is, exists within it. Therefore, we are all one connected energy. The Bible may shed light on understanding the enigma of dark and light. Jesus often taught that darkness equates to “not understanding.” A lack of comprehension could mean to not know or understand the truth of who we are and who all of us are in as one combined being. This is particularly interesting when one considers other verses where Jesus is said to have made statements concerning light. He proclaimed we should “let our light shine” among others. Could Jesus have been saying that the condition of our soul can be seen by others? Is the truth we know and understand directly related to the “light” or “brightness” of my soul? And is darkness the covering over of that light within me if I continue to exist within ignorance about myself or operate out of negativity?
Considering the amount of paranormal ghost pictures we are seeing today, it is interesting to consider that, perhaps, what we are capturing in digital photos are in fact the souls of individuals. Some believe that souls might be seen as "orbs." Balls of light have been photographed in various sizes, different degrees of brightness and color, slow floating or fast moving. Could paranormal anomalies of all types be revealing, to people of this age, the different degrees of condition of people's souls? Could the differences also be equated with different levels of mental understanding (e.g. enlightenment versus ignorance)? If ghost pictures are possibly proof of varying soul conditions, from some being “lost” to others being “found,” we can assume that all people will progress to knowing truth, toward the light.
Enlightenment: The Condition of the Soul That Knows
Could everyone, one day, possess the understanding of who they are - enlightenment? Jesus would seemingly agree, as he mentioned people should strive to be like a “city of light on a hill,” so others can find the light of truth that each possesses. Maybe this is why some on the other side of the grave seek out those whom they can see in this physical world. Do those of us here on earth have a visible “light” or “dark” countenace about ourselves, as well? Maybe those in the spirit world unwittingly seek out those who are “in light,” or “enlightened,” so they can find truth, too.
Darkness: Evil or an Indicator of Being Lost?
Many believe in “evil” spirits. We would agree that what we may call evil is in fact “dark.” But, we would challenge the traditional beliefs concerning evil spirits as a teaching in error. Certainly, we all have experienced those who are not walking in love (light) in this world and are downright bad eggs, call them “evil” people. What happens to them when their spirits leave this world through death of the physical body? Are those who are behaving atrociously on earth, being full of poison, all of a sudden healthy and whole soon after their passing into the next world? Can evil persons, through death of the physical body, instantly become “enlightened,” no longer remaining trapped by the error of their beliefs? We can surmise that the "evil dead" become what some dub as “evil spirits,” and that they remain still trapped in their own fallen frame of mind, desperately in need of light to shine into their souls. They likely seek what they know: the physical realm and its people whom they likely will continue to behave badly with until they find a healing change. Maybe evil does not exist; just people who are lacking knowledge and understanding - thus, making choices based upon error in beliefs, emotional anguish and other inner turmoils. Perhaps, the only evil that exists is created by mankind - maybe, it exists for us on both sides of death.
So, the lesson we can learn from this is that the condition of our soul in this earthly world will be the condition of our soul in the after world, initially, when crossing over to the ether, until one finds the truth and freedom they are seeking. Remember, hell is not a geographical place. Hell is the state of mind of a person, regardless of where they physically dwell - it's a condition within a person.
