About 6 acres in size, Colonial Park Cemetery seems to have shrunk to its current size over the years. Walking along the outside fence, you can see where the boundaries have closed it in smaller than originally intended. It has been the site of mass burial, and many of the bodies are unmarked. Some have said there may be over 8,000 bodies within Colonial Park Cemetery. Grave markers line one wall, nobody knowing where they belong. Located at Abercorn Street and Oglethorpe Avenue, it is open from 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening. It's last burial took place in 1853, and the grounds were later camped upon by General Sherman and his army in 1854.
