Pollen from plants and trees falling in front of the camera lens can also reflect the camera's flash and appear as orbs. D. Eldon Bailey and PI JuBoo of HPI ran experiments for us years ago.
With pollen orbs, look for checkered markings that are very discernible. This should help you to rule out pollen in ghost pictures. Nice info to know!
