This month, we’ll attempt to answer this question, plus share some great stories and photos. – Louis

Apparitions Before and After Death?
You may be well aware of seeing the ghosts of the deceased but were you aware that sightings of spirits of people before they pass is a well documented phenomena?

In 1889, London’s Society for Psychical Research published the report ‘On Apparitions Occurring Soon After Death.’ We think you’ll find the summation of their work rather astounding (hundreds of cases were studied).

We did some study into the writings of William James, someone who explored religious and spiritual phenomena. Heck, he even founded the American Society for Psychical Research.

Worthy Read: Ghosts by Roger Clarke

I gave this one 5 Stars. It is a fantastic look into our desire to believe and perceive the supernatural. The connection Clarke found in our ghost sightings over 5 centuries is eye-opening!   – Louis

Camera Malfunctions or Ghosts?

Recently, we received a photograph that challenged us to try and determine how it was made. The photo in question had a ‘ghost hand’ rising up and out of the hand of a young woman.

We knew it wasn’t a ghost because it looked like it had been added to the image by photo-editing software such as Photoshop – but we were told it was an unaltered photograph. And we do not believe the ghostly hand was knowingly added even though it appeared similar to an animated hand. Heck, if you are going to try and fool somebody, at least make it look like a real hand, right?

Our next thought was that maybe somebody had used a smartphone app to add in the fake ghost in an attempt to fool the person who had sent it to us. Nope. Then, we asked if the person had a ghost hunting app on their mobile device because some of these apps are bad news and will automatically add fake anomalies into photos to fool the user into believing they captured something paranormal. No. Hmm…

The only thing left to deduce from this might be one of several camera malfunctions, something that faltered during the imaging process. And so, we explored and pondered; and we wrote this cool article: Digital Cameras: Errors, Not Ghosts. Give it a read, and see if you have seen any of these types of camera-induced ‘ghosts.’

To learn, we sometimes need to visit the past to examine research that’s preceded the work of modern ghost investigators.

We were thrilled to peruse an original study from London’s Society for Psychical Research on haunted houses. (It inspired our Best Ways to Prove Ghosts Are Real.)

Frank’s Box to Go Up for Sale – 2 of Them!

Just in time for Halloween, two original Frank’s Box ghost and spirit communication devices will be going up for sale by its owner who contacted Angels & Ghosts.

One ghost box can be used for both video and audio ITC (Instrumental Transcommunicationfranks-video-box-4-dd – the practice of making contact with spirits using an electronic device). This video box is # 4 and is considered a rare creation of Frank Sumption.

The other ghost box being offered for sale and made by Mr. Sumption is box #146. It was made in 2013, and it has both AM and FM options along with a few other unique features thrown in by its creator.
